Prince Takamatsu Cup Nishinippon Round-Kyushu Ekiden (Relay Race)

The world's longest ekiden (relay race), with a total of 1,064 km divided into 72 sections. It has fostered a number of famous runners. It has continued from 1951, and has become an annual event.

All Japan High School Judo Tournament
(known as "Kinshuki" Judo)

The tournament started in 1926. It is carrying on the tradition that has fostered so many star players and Olympic medalists.
Strong teams compete every year to determine the best.
All Japan High School Kendo Tournament
(known as "Gyokuryuki" Kendo)

As well as judo, this traditional tournament started in 1927. It boasts the largest participation at the high-school level.
Kyushu high schools consistently make an excellent showing, and have achieved a reputation for kendo.



Nishinippon Ohori Fireworks Show
The Nishinippon organizes various cultural regional events to offer its residents a full life.
Many of these are today popular and nationally-known, well representing the region.
